Soft Mathematics is a series of performed radioplays inspired by the Dewey Decimal System.
Original short stories were striped of narrative elements and transcribed into tonal textures, both sampled and composed. After the soundtracks were completed, the narrative was added back in as a live monologue that was performed over the soundtracks during the weeklong enactment in a sealed gallery space visible only through a peephole in the main wall and audible through synced radios mounted on the exterior.
The communal aural experience juxtaposed with an isolating viewing paradigm to upset perception and establish new sensory hierarchies for viewership.
Installation version includes body-heat/touch activated sensors placed within protruding extremities affixed to the wall that reward viewer engagement with alternative narratives.
