Bringing together three experts in the field of Conceptual Art–Naomi Beckwith (Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator, MCA), Tim Griffin (Executive Director, The Kitchen) and Assistant Curator Naima J. Keith–this panel will discuss the foundation and future of conceptualism as a mode of production and means of representation. Using Gaines's practice and works in Charles Gaines: Gridwork 1974–1989 as a point of departure, the panelists will also discuss how conceptualism manifests in other fields, including performance and new media. They will also consider how their own work adds to current debates on the future of the field.
